The only thing left is the testing. After plugging it into my son's machine and bearing the happy BOM-BING of a USB device being detected I fired up notepad. Sure enough, whailing away at the button was giving me spaces. The final test was to fire up the 'tubbies game and let myson have at it.

So for about fifteen dollars and an hour of time I managed to get a nice button for my son. I'm thinking the next input device will be an oversized gamepad similar to the giant NES controller mods that have been done. Four arrow shaped buttons for movement and a pair of input buttons would be a start...
